Diary of a new shooter part heck I dont even know anymore...
« on: April 01, 2003, 11:21:35 AM »
Ok I now have 4 matches under my belt.  I am becoming more confident. I dont worry so much about what I am doing.  I now have a shortbarreled 97, a Norinco. It sure has made a huge difference in my times.  I finally cleaned a stage Sunday, as a matter of fact I cleaned two of them. I am not totally sure but I think I only had around 4 or so total misses.  I am still having some rifle trouble but I think its cured for the moment.  That seems to be the area where I need to pick up some time.  I am just not used to shooting rifle free hand.
I still dont have my good leather yet and I hope it gets here soon.  Last time I checked it hadnt been started yet.
I sure wish I could shoot more but those of you that have small kids know how that goes.  If I can shoot one match a month Ill be happy for now.
I am thinking of going to a Marlin soon.  Not sure how to swing it money wise but the 92 is just a little too slow and I would like a shorter barrel too.
Maybe I can get rid of one of my 97's.
Well time is short for this installment I ll get back when I can.

Well sounds like yer gettin the hang o things quicker than I am. Been shootin fer bout 6 months and think I finally cleaned one last Month. As fer changin to a Marlin do some checkin first, I got one in 38/357 and SWC bullets are a pain to load that dang little shoulder hangs up on sumptin in there.  So gonna have to try some RNFP I guess, durn but them SWC sure shoot good tho.  OH well.   Charlie Bull

Howdy DB,

Sounds like yer gittin the hang of it! 8)

Am wunderin wat is slowin ya down wif that 92 though. I have two 92s and luv em! One is an older SRC in .357 and the other is a .45 short rifle. Both of them are capable of shootin faster than I can!

Montana,
Have a Marlin in .357 and like the SWC but my, too, hangs up big time.  Now using the Lee molded RNFP and they are great.  No hang ups either
