Who would like a short action moutian rifle
« on: March 04, 2006, 03:12:37 AM »
The question came up on the Remington forum about a new replacement for the 7600 I for one would like a light weight version and may be in a shorter action pump and what if maybe it was in stainless steel it may just be the answer to the question never asked say to fit around the 308 case family in say a 7600 mountain rifle configuration how many here would like one in say 260,708, 308 or maybe 358 any takers I would by at least 2 of them one in 708 and one in 358 in a short throw pump and while there tinkering with it they could do a little R & D on the that trigger. I love my 35 Whelen 7600 but it is a little heavy side and why not they may just have a winner if they do  there is a market on this forum here.

Grices is asking REMINGTON to do a special run of rifles so they pick 6mm REMINGTON, 25-06 REMINGTON, 7mm-08 REMINGTON, 35 REMINGTON and the 35 Whelen. Remington is the only of the big three that still makes factory loadings for the Whelen and Remington has been humping the Whelen for some time with loadings in the 700, 7400, 7600 and now the new 750 Woodsmaster. MIKE.

How about a shot action pump 16-18 inch barrel in 350 Remington mag? Sort of a pump action guige gun.

MIKE.

I think the 338 Federal cartridge would be a good fit in any 7600 rifle, a carbine would be real nice!

I would love to see a .250 Savage or .358 Winchester.  Have a .308 in a 760 with a barrel at 17.5", does not balance right though, butt heavy when carring it at the joint of barrel to receiver.  I think only Grice could get it done, too many bean counters at Big Green, all they give is lip service when questioned about special runs.
