Fullfield 2 vs Sightron S2 vs Elite 3200
« on: February 17, 2006, 04:34:58 PM »
I am thinking about giving one of these scopes a try on a Stevens 200. From what I have read the Burris scopes are not consistant in their quality. I have an old Fullfield that has been tough enough but the optics are so so. Have not heard anything bad about the Sightron or the Elite.

By no means am I an authority on optics but I really like the Bushnell Elite scopes.  You will rarely, and I mean really rarely, hear anything bad about their quality or warranty service.  The only negative on the Elite line is their limited eye relief.

I too have read a lot of negative postings about Burris scopes.  I owned a handgun scope of theirs and it never gave me any problems, but there is an awful lot of bad press for Burris.  On the other hand, there are an awful lot of folks out there that have nothing but good luck from them too.

I have no experience with the Sightron scopes.  My personal recommendation would be to go with the Bushnell Elite 3200.  Good glass, great warranty should you need it, and decent prices.

I really like the Fullfield II and the Elite 3200.  I personally think the FfII is optically better than the 3200, and the elite scopes are too darned long.  I do love the rainguard though.   The elite 4200 really has awesome glass.

I heard bad things about warranty service for all of them except Sightron.  I think sightron has a complete exchange warranty in the store.  You just take it back where you bought it. Other than that , I would probably buy the 3200. I have never seen a Sightron, I've just read some things about them.

I own both a 4200 and a Burris FFII. I have no complaints with either. Both are great scopes.

I really like my Bushnell 3200. It is on my Savage 30-06 and it holds zero very well. I just wish it had light gathering capability comparable to my Leupold Wind River Mesa binoculars, but that's probably not a fair comparison.

I have limited experience with the sightron2 scopes, and they are good.  However, I just have a preference for the 3200 over the scopes you mentioned.

I own 2 burris BDs, and I am not impressed with them.

That said, if you are looking at the Elite 3200, do yourself a favor and look at the Nikon Buckmasters.  They have better optics than the 3200, just without rainguard.

The Sightron II is a scope that should be taken into consideration. I just read about them same as you. I also read good things about them on other forums. So I took the plunge and bought a 3x9x42 Sightron II. Best $200 I  ever spent on a scope. There will be another on the way for my muzzleloader in the spring. They are definitely worth a look.

I would gice a second vote for lookin at the Sightron SII, I chose it over the Burris FFII for a muzle loader scope. Both were nice, but I liked the eye relief on the SII, and IMO, it was a little brighter and crisper.

Chuck Hawks has a nice reivew on the SII, and speaks very highly of the scopes elev/windage adjustment, and is rock solid at holding zero.

For $200, it is well worth a look.
