I notice that the 7.62x39 lists a 22" bull barrel. That's interesting for a gun that matches the ole thudy thudy so close balistically. Wonder if that's what is available in the barrel accessory program now too for this caliber?

The 7.69x39 is tempting...any idea on how the 500 S&W would shoot? what kind of range?

Edit: I'm also wondering what I can order from them to fit on my reciever..guess I need to call them soon

The bull barrel 7.62x39 must be a typo on Walmart's part, it's listed as just a 22" barrel in both the 2006 catalog and the 2005 Acc barrel list.

Berger,

Do a search on the .500 S&W, lots of posts on it....but beware, a lot of those that have bought them have been discouraged by the recoil, there have been several that sold them because of it, the most recent was Krochus.

In my 500 S&W handi-rifle I would pick up anywhere from 150 to 200 fps over handgun velocieties, BUT recoil was brutially excessive leading me to sell the rifle.

Oh yeah, that's the way it works, handholicism is not only addictive, it's contagious!! :-D  :-D  :-D

For fitting other barrels to your receiver, if the second letter of the serial number is N or later, they can fit any caliber barrel they make...cept for the 10ga and rimfires.

I need another rifle like I need another hole in my head... that said the 35 Whelen for some reason seems appealing to me.

I might go to the doctor and see if another hole wonÂ’t hurt anything :)
