New predator call
« on: March 10, 2006, 07:07:48 PM »
Does anyone have any experience with the new cass creek nomad predator call. I saw one at gander mt. today , it sounded great, it only cost 49.99, but has a wireless range of 100 yards. It has a selector switch so you can choose which receiver to activate( extra receivers are 29.99)you place the 3 receivers different distances apart and can operate them with your pocket remote, this gives the illusion to a songdog that a "wounded" rabbit is moving away and is supposed to really work well. it sounds good , so any replys would be helpful. I have a tournament at my hunting lease  next weekend and am thinking of trying it out if i get some positive feedback! thanks, and good hunting

Welcome To Graybeard Outdoors :D
I have no experience with that cass creek electronic but it sure does sound like a good value, especially with a remote.

You say that you have a turnament coming up so I am assuming that you are not new to this sport and like the sound that you are getting from the cass.
Please get back with us to let us know how you did. :D

If it's like most of the cheap little callers, it has very little volume. I have a little Remington remote caller, it works ok but no volume. I know the little callers work, but you need that volume to reach out there. If it's all you can afford get it and go hunting, it's better then nothing.

Thanks for the replies guys, i am sure enjoying the forums . it is great to be able to talk with a group  nationwide that has wide varieties of experience. lets see, to answer your questions, 1 i am still kinda new at predator hunting only my second season, 2 the tournament we are having serves a dual purpose, it is open to the public this year and is an opportunity for nonmembers to see the club and maybe join, it is a little late but is not just for coyote, we will be hunting coon, fox , and bobcat,.The biologist for our club is especially concerned about the coons and bobcats, we have a good population of turkey and the coons eat the eggs and the bobcats prey on the young ones. So iam going to try and dent the pop. some . As for the volume on the call it has 6 levels, i had it on 3 in the store and it was VERY loud, I know it was indoors but hey i think it will work. I am going to try it.thanks again , i will let you guys know how it turns out, good hunting!

call update
« Reply #7 on: March 14, 2006, 03:12:13 PM »
hey guys an update on the cass creek nomad, I didnt buy one for the following reason, i got to open one at gander mt. and really try it out, the problem with this call is not the volume but the time length of the call.when activated it makes the sound, for only 4-5 seconds and that is it. press it again ,same sound ,same length. there is no variation. no predator i know would fall for that. so, i looked around, the fox pro was definitely nice , but alas, out of budget. I ended up trying several, then bought the extreme dimension digital call, with the 12 sound card and the ability to play 2 sounds at once, gander mt made it easy, they marked it down from 199.00 to 143.00, so i bought it, cant wait for the tournament this weekend, i will let you know how it goes :D

The caller worked out, i got answers from yotes both nites, but no opportunity for a shot. the yotes won the contest, only 1 dog was taken and second and third was taken by 2 hunters who each took 2 coons. guess i should have coon hunted!, anyway i will be going back for revenge soon, good hunting everyone!
