Huntsman with Camo Laminate!
« on: February 12, 2006, 05:04:44 AM »
Got my Huntsman rigged out with Camo Laminated stock and forend. And shot it.  Still shooting 1.5'' group at 100 yds (see big holes) and looks great.  :D

Coop,

Lookin' Good! I take it the forend does not come checkered? I need to get a cinnamin forend ordered for mine. Thanks for posting the pic.

Have you guys tried the rifle forend on the Huntsman? For me it makes a difference in the way it carries, and without the rod and rod holder on the barrel looks a lot better. The accuracy seems a bit better as well, but being a hunter, I'm not at the range squeezing everything out of a rifle.
Oh I've found that a small rat tail in the screw hole floats the forend fine.
As I've stated before a small scout scope mounted at the front of the factory rail, eliminates a lot of hammer issues, not to mention, quick target (deer ) acquisition.....

tscott,  The 1st forend they sent was the rifle version. I did shoot it and groups were the same, but I have forgot everything that can be forgot over the years and having to carry a ram rod would just add to that because I know I would forget it at some point. It did look a little better though. I kept the forend it was checkered and I'm using it on my 308 & 243.  The angle of picture is decieving I've got a good 1/4'' clearance on hammer. What is a rat tail you mentioned for floating the forend my 243 is very picky about bullets been thinking of trying to float it or try the oring on it? It wont shoot any 100gr bullets under 3''  but does OK with 85gr gamekings about 1.5 to 2''.

Rat tail is a file... I used the one that comes as a sharpener for a chain saw.. Just hollowing the hole out a little, takes a lot of pressure off.
I keep the tele rod in the bottom of my pack at all times. I was never comfortable hunting with Handi rifle barrels. Before I got rid of them (stuck and other annoying things), I kept the rod on hand for the obvious.
There is at least 1 Muzzy mfg. who does not put the rod on the barrel, because of accuracy. I just like the way the Huntsman looks and carries
with the rod off. The other thing I did was to take a serious rasp wood file
to that clunky stock and forend... My Huntsman looks like an English type bird gun... In jest maybe I should put a Zeiss on it so I could call it a $1000 deer rifle!

Where can you buy a checkered cinnamon laminate forend for the Huntsman (with the ramrod hole in it)?

bucknbass, They told me that they didn't have any forends for the huntsman with checkering, They do have the cin lam w/o checkering though.  Really not much differents and you can see the wood grain better w/o the checkering. Just call NEF

Take a look at my post in the rifle section with pictures of my camo laminate stocks and forarms.  I bought a laminate checkered forarm for my muzzleloader.  I had to pay extra for it to be checkered, but they will do it.  Ask for Gordon.  I was told by one person "no, we don't do that", then got Gordon, who knew better, the second time I called.
