Rifle to Handgun???

Your right Graybeard:  I can not imagine anyone making a issue out of it, it seems silly, but someone might. It ain't worth it.  My wife bought my first contender as a Christmas gift. I will have to check on mine as well.  I never even heard/thought of this issue until I read this thread.  I always assumed they were interchangable.  They should be!  I would think that someone in D.C with comon sense ( I know :-) ) would add an exception to the ATF regs.  :D

Rifle to Handgun???

Hey Skeeterbaymac thanks for the nice reply.  I didn't know if anyone knew that I too am a retired lawdawg.  I did 26 years in the USAF and then another 14 as a LEO.  I still work as an auxiliary for training purposes as a firearms instructor.  I know what you mean about the numbers of leos that have that mind set of cops and military only.  I hear ya.  I too have tried to inform my fellow brethren on the idea of a police state under those conditions, but to ne avail.

I did cal my local ATF office and talked to a very nice fellow and he pretty much read me back the law on prohibition on my question.  He felt it was too narrow, but the law had to be followed.  It would be nice if the law was a little more defined as to the real problem, but don't hold your breath.

As to the idea of ignorance to the law, he stated that the firearm would be confiscated, but he would not look to arrest the individual that had an Encore that was converted back in it's history which the individual could not have know about.

Now you can see that this guy was a straight shooter and a standup guy.  He was very informtive and easy to talk to.  I can say however, that for everyone like him - there are two or three that are not.

Bottomline, I will go on living the life of an honest citizen and not break any law.  I think I can live with the G2 I have and the barrels I shoot.  I will leave the Encore as is and keep it as a rilfe.  Heck, I have enough handguns.  Geez, what the hell am I saying enough guns????????????   ;)
