50 cal. cleaning patches?
« on: April 16, 2006, 12:44:44 AM »
What size are these to be cut and made from what type of cloth????
I see them for sale and they are 2 1/2 inch round patches. Why are they round?
If these are square[ from your own cloth] what size do you cut them????
I cut my own,for my center fire rifles, from diaper flannel. Will this cloth work?

I buy Kleanbore bulk patches. They are 2 1/4 x 2 1/4. work for 9MM up to 20ga. 20ga. I believe is 62 cal. But anyway they work great in a 50 cal. and they are cheap enough its not worth the energy to cut your own. I think I paid around $5.00 for 250 at Gander Mtn.

Flannel sounds too thick for most cleaning jags to handle, but that depends on the fabric I guess.  My jags work fine with cleaning patches meant for 12-20ga.  I used to cut my own but the headache wasn't worth it.
