Mark II 7.62x39 couple of questions
« on: September 28, 2006, 12:46:55 PM »
I looked at one at a pawnshop today.  I am not familiar with Ruger rifles to be truthful.  My Father-in-law has a Mark II of some kind in 308 and it is nice.  This 7.62x39 that I looked at was with the skeletonized, first generation (probably, don't know) stock.  Does anyone have one of these rifles?  Are they bored at .308 or .311?  I have heard horror stories about the Mini-30/Ranch Rifle.  Would $300 be too high assuming that the bore is good?  Any help would be appreciated.  I am looking at 22 Hornets and 7.62x39 rifles.  I like the CZ.  I really like the Ruger 77/22 Hornet.  It is a tossup.  If this is a good price on the Ruger then I might go that way.

Not too familiar with the bore size but the info you're after might be found at www.rugerforum.com   There are very knowledgable guys at that site and can probably give you a good idea about the rifle's value. I would say that $300 for a used Ruger 77 in that caliber would be a steal.
