Huntsman Combo Question
« on: March 03, 2006, 11:22:20 PM »
What does the term "short-fall" hammer mean?

Quote
The HuntsmanTM features a short-fall hammer mechanism that speeds ignition and improves accuracy.

This is from the description in the Catalog.  How is the short-fall hammer different from the "standard" shotgun hammer?

Short-fall hammer

:-) Cookieman, I noticed no one answered your question- at least no one on the forum. My 2-cents: the short-fall hammer means the hammer doesn't have to move very far to set off the primer or cap. Example: SA revolvers have a long hammer fall-as a general rule. A S&W DA revolver has a shorter hammer fall. All modern H&R/NEF rifles/shotguns have a fairly short hammer fall. Does this make sense? :?  Hunman55

Works for me!  That's what I thought, but that seemed like too simple.  Thought maybe there was more to it.  Thanks
