Old contender barrels

I was talking to a friend about wanting a 6.5x55 for my contender which I know they don't make; however, he said very early on that contender had made or someone had made barrels other than the present day low pressure configurations.  Anyone familiar?

If you are UNLUCKY enough to find a high pressure round chambered in a Contender barrel by some fool DON'T BUY IT. The Contender is just not strong enough for the higher pressure rounds. Stick to the Encore for those.

If you want a nice 6.5 for the Contender the 6.5 JDJ will get you all the Contender is strong enough to handle. If you've just got to have a 6.5x55 or .260 Rem get an Encore.
