need help
« on: March 29, 2006, 12:12:02 PM »
i was shooting my 17 hmr sporter today and it broke :x . the little part that stricks the firing pin fell out. i guess this is the transfer bar looks like a small pin broke or came out, this part connects to the part that lifts when you pull the hammer back. i bought this rifle about  a month ago and only 100 rounds fired. got a few ? before i call the factory. 1 i don't have a receipt got it at a gun show paid cash, how does h&r charge for repairs. 2 do i need to take my scope off. 3 if i send it by usps or ups do i need to tell them that it is a firearm. 4 when i call the factory do i need to ask to speak to certain person . thanks for your help or any other advise in advance.

UPS should be able to ship it because its going to the factory for repair and not a private party. You just need to explain that to them. I wouldn't leave my scope on (things can happen). H&R customer service is pretty good and I think you will find very helpfull.

Good Luck

Call NEF at their toll free number listed in the FAQ and Help sticky, tell em exactly what, when and how. Ask them to issue a call tag or reimburse you for shipping if they will, warranty coverage is 1yr, but they're real good about working with you. They may not cover shipping, but  I bet they will fix it for you. You may be able to just ship the frame without the stock and barrel, ask when you call NEF, I'd ship it USPS priority mail if they will, I use their Click-N-Ship, saves me from standing in line, but you need to know the weight on the parcel.

Another option if you are the DIY kind, ask em to send you the lifter and striker to install yourself, they have done that before for several members. Use Perklo's instructions in the FAQ for a trigger job to learn how to R&R it.

See,  good customer service.  :)

Thats another reason why I like these firearms..  I've had to fight tooth and nail before with another brand of gun to get it repaired.  ...no worries for me for these H&R/NEF's..
