Author Topic: Titegroup meter well in Lee Pro auto disk? (Read 737 times)

I've picked up 8 pounds of Titegroup to load 9MM and .45ACP. I have a Lee die set for the 9MM and would like to make use of the powder through expanding die and have been thinking on the Lee Pro and standard Auto Disks for a while. If the measure meters well with the powders I use for straight wall cartridges, I'm thinking of getting a couple of them. This frees up my Hornady Lock N Load measure to reload milsurp rifle on the Lee Classic Turret I'm looking at buying.

Here's the list of calibers/cartridges:

.30 carbine - W296 and any other known good powders for this cartridge. Suggestions welcome, as I just used up a 4 pound jug of W206 and will need to buy another jug soon.

.45ACP - W231 and Titegroup

9MM - Titegroup

Possibly 7.62 X 25 Tokarev - Sugestions for powder welcome as well, I haven't started reloading for this and haven't bought a die set yet. Any input from anyone who has reloaded this cartridge is also welcome. Will be shot through a CZ-52 for plinking purposes, so economy is the top priority, not accuracy, though I like accuracy as well. I use mostly lead for my pistol reloads.

I've been running Tite-Group through my Redding 10X, and it meters beautifully through it. It's so fine grained that I'm pretty sure it'll meter well through any measuring unit.

It measures well thru my Lee and Uniflow measures.

I use the Lee Auto disk with every type of powder, I have had nothing but great results. I load on a single station press and it sure increased my production and the loads are consistent.

None of the Lee measures I had dropped any powder reliably. I don't have them any more.

Can you give some more detail, such as what kind of powder you were using and which specific models you owned?

I had two of the measures that had the changable disks. Even ball powders did not drop reliably. I went to the lever type measure and hooked up the rod system so it would work with the 1000. The very fine ball powders did ok. Anything with any type of grain would stick between the measure casing and the plastic measuring part. Then it would bind and grind and cause a mess. Didn't take even a pound of clays or something similar to make it nearly inopperable.

My best powder measures are the lyman #55 and the lyman little dandy with the brass bushings. Both, once set, are very accurate with about any powder. My dillon measures do exceptional with ball powders and most flake powders. When dropping the long extruded powders I have gone to automatic measure for more accuracy.

For 9 mm--get the micro adjustable disk for the Pro Auto Disk-very accurate even with clays and Universal clays. The disk is about $10 from Midway and is all I use for my pistol reloads--You don't have to change any disks.

Are you using Titegroup or clays for your 9MM? If it's TG, can you recommend a good load using lead SWC's?
