my cricket in 22lr.  most versatile cartridge ever invented.  my rifle is accurate, weighs 2 1/2 pounds, has a 2 pound trigger.
I have killled 4 deer in my life and the longest shot was 50yds.  my cricket could have taken every one of them.
of course people say I'm weird.

I'd have to go with my encore in 30-06.  I just put a burris fullfield with the ballistic plex reticle on it and anything inside of 500 yards that can go on my grill is in big trouble.

My 2nd choice would be my new H&R 308.  I put the same kind of scope on it also with the same results.

There's something to be said for a single shot rifle and knowing how to use it.

Ruger 1S in 270.

Good thing its just a hypothetical question because I like my 1-V in 22-250 and 1-RSI in 30-06 and my handi with 4 barrels and access to the Graybeard NEF WTT forum.

a year and a half since my post, and I am almost down to one single shot rifle; still have the two #1's, but starting to doubt the need for a colony gun in this part of Alabama so the 1-V may have to go one day.

my answer today is a #1A in 243. I have evolved.

The difference between people who do stuff and people who don't do stuff is that the people who do stuff do stuff.
