Factory ammo prices going up?

Has anyone else noted how Factory ammo prices are raising?
I mean every sence Winchester (firearms) announced that they shutting the doors, for some reason their ammo prices have raised too :noway: Super-X used to be around $12 or so, now it more like $16-17 :eek: .
And Federal Fusions are up around anywhere from $17-24+
I though the reason behind Fusions where to release a supreme ammo at reasonable prices? They used to be $2-4 dollors cheaper just less than a year ago.

Any one know why Remington Bullets and Brass is so dirty looking. It is not just because they don't polish it any longer!!!!!

I did notice the last couple boxes of Core Loks I got where pretty dirty.
But these seem to not jumped in price, but like you said are more dirty as of late.
Quality control issues and greed, I guess.
All the more reason for fellas to get into reloading.

Heck, I use to love Rem 700`s, but they are so bad now. The fit and finish is sloppy and the butt pad ir horrible and the pull is shorter. I would never buy a new one. I think alot of the manufactorers are getting sloppy and lowering the QC. That is sad. Jack.

I have been doing a lot of reading lately on the ammunition issue.  It seems the Iraq issue is using up a lot of ammo.  Before the war stocks were low, and with all the training, and the daily action over there a lot of bullets have been flying.  Base material prices have jumped and DOD has let a couple of huge contracts for small arms ammo.

During WWII guys were making jacketed .22 bullets out of old 22 rimfire cases.

I noticed over the last 18 months the retail price of ammo has taken a big jump and this trend will be upward as long as we have a shooting war going on.

I was more then pleased when my brother called and said he was going to bring me a few boxes of bullets for loading.  In turn I will give a couple boxes of factory ammo that I no longer need.  The barter system maybe on the way back.

myarmor I wonder if you got some old stock.  Yesterday I dug down for some 150 grain Hornaday bullets that I had on hand.  They had grown dark over the years.  They are pre-interlock.

i was told by the owner at the local gun shop about two months ago "don't let your reloading supplies get low" bullets, primer ,powder. he said alot of it was going to the war ?

inflation? seems to be inflicting everything from Mt. Dew to ammo.

You didn't really think they would stay the same price after folks found out how good they shoot did you?..All things considered..they are still a good buy at that price..

:oops: ...Wishful thinking I guess.
Thats an interesting point about the War though, driving up ammo and firearm goods. I am not a political man, but I see how government uses "Current events" to make a profit and stick it to people. Lets not even mention Gas prices :)  :roll:

a few guys and my better half went to the large tulsa gun show this past weekend.......one of the guys has a sks and was going to buy some ammo........4.99 a box of 20.....he said the last he bought was 220 a box.......that was if you could find someone who had any............boy i sure glad they invented smokless powder.....other wise i probably coundnt aford to shoot.........lol........jb

It would be nice if Federal would release some of their Fusion bullets in acceptable numbers..it would make trying to duplicate their loads a-lot easier to do... :wink:

Our Government at work....
Higher civilian ammo costs
less reloading componets at higher costs
higher shipping.

Who are the government scoundrels helping....big business.

gas to $5.00/gal by end of 2007.....hmmmm

Dirty ammo

Remington and some other co are using used copper not Virgin copper to make bullets and brass/copper components. I know where they are getting the used copper/!
