Walther G22...not Encore!
« on: March 03, 2006, 05:07:12 PM »
Hey all,

I realize this isn't the right forum, but I seem to get all the answers from this one, so if you don't mind too much, here goes.
I have a chance to buy a Walther G22 .22LR bullpup type rifle, new in the box, for $275.  The guy told me that was a good price and I've noticed that they sell for about $350+.

But, I don't know anything about the gun and was hoping anyone could tell me the pros and cons.  I mean, it is a Walther and I've always found Walther to be pretty good.  I don't really need another .22LR, but hey...I'm a gun nut and can't help myself.

So, if any of you have a comment, please jump right on in.  Now....back to my Encore!  Thanks,

Karl

I bought one a couple years ago.  I waited until they had ironed out the initial bugs.  Walther claimed it was a magazine problem and not a gun problem.

I paid $250 at a local gunshop.  I see them in the same shop now for about $279.

Even though mine was one of the newer versions with the new (fixed) magazines, it has reliability problems.  Some ammo works Ok but others don't.  So I can't trust it.  Also, a pin through the safety lever worked its way out.  I pushed it back in and peened it so it would stay.

I had great hopes for this little gun.  It fits in my pocket real well and would be a great little grouse plinker or snake gun.  Oh well.

It is a fun gun but I don't expect a lot from it.  I would never carry it for defense, never carry it if I needed to shoot something to eat.

Hey bustedknee,

Good to hear from you concerning the problems, but are you sure we're talking about the same gun....rifle?  I read where you said it fits well in your pocket.  Just how big a boy are you, as a famous comedian said.  You also spoke about "fixed magazines".  I checked on the internet and I couldn't find anything about fixed magazines, so I think we got our wires crossed.  The gun I'm talking about is the Walther G22 Bullpup rifle....
Same????

No, just missed it.  They said another guy that was in the store overheard the conversation and bought it when I walked out.  Guess it just wasn't meant to be.  Maybe next ime.......
