Kind of a Question if you load for the 22-250

I would like to know what your favorite two bullets and what you favorite two powders are for loads in your 22-250's?  Also which combination gives your best load (Bullet and power wts. would be appreciated)?  Hope to hear from a bunch of you to see if any pattern develops!

I'm currently working up loads for a 22-250.  Thus far, it seems to like 34 grains of Varget and 53 grain flat based Sierra Match bullets.  I get acceptable deer hunting accuracy with Barnes 53 grain Triple shocks over 34 grains of Varget but the accuracy isn't as good as with the Sierra match bullets.

Best overall combination - 52 gr. Amax and H-380

Next best - 50 gr. Vmax and RL-15

My model 12 Savage likes 50 grain Hornady V-Max bullets.  50 grain Nosler ballistic tips also shoot well.  In either case W760 seems to shoot best, although H380, IMR4064 and Varget also do very well.  I'm wanting to get a chrony to check velocities on those loads.

I'm getting excellent results with 50 grn. Nosler BT's over Reloader 15 in my Winchester Stealth Mod. 70.  Good luck with your load development!

I reload for my buddies .22-250 and for my swift using the same bullets and powder for praire dog loads.  IMR 4064 and 40 grain V-Max's.  Both of our guns love them.  His gun also likes Barnes Burners Varminators...but mine dosen't.  Anyway,  there's my two pennies.

In my pair of 22-250s I use H380 with the 55Sptz Sierra in one and IMR4064 with the 52HPBT in the other.  It is a toss up to which load is more accurate, I think that depends more on your individual rifle.

50 gr. Nosler BT with Win. 760. Prior to discovering the BT I used Sierra 52 gr. with 760.

For close range under 250 yds the 55 gr semi-pointed Sierra bullet #1350 I believe...just cant be beat for stability & consistant accuracy...& it kills clean, & is the least expensive high grade bullet available...for longer range I use the 55 gr V-max it drops a lot less when the distances get stretched to past 400 yds..In both loadings I sort the Reminton cases carefully check & deburr the flash holes..trim to lenght..lightly chamfer the edges...I use IMR 4064 & standard CCI primers..for over 30 years that first combination has shot many one hole groups,from 3 or 4 brands of factory rifles...I've used modest charges of H-380 & 53 gr.flat base Sierra match bullet...The real screamin loads with the 50 gr bullets can cook your barrel fast mostly I avoid MAX reloading with any high intensity rifle cartridges..So load only as HOT [read near max load] as u need to get best accuracy...& your barrel will last to 2000 rds..go nuts & it will be gone in 600 to 800 shots....I really like the 22 250 I'm planning on re-barrelling a tuned up Savage with a custom SS barrel with a one in twelve twist to shoot the 60 gr V-max 22 cal bullet...That # should really buck the wind & hit hard past a Quarter mile..mike in ct

I loaded for 3 .22-250's, and 2 of them liked Hornady's 52g HPBT, and the other one liked a 50g Vmax best. Varget worked best for 2 rifles, and the other prefered IMR 4064.  The 52 grainers traveled around 3600 fps, and the 50g V-Max was up around 3700 fps. Accuracy for all 3 rifles was well under the inch at 100 yards.

I use the IMR 3031 with the 55gr Hornady #2267 for Yotes &
H380 with a Sierra 55gr #1390 for groundhogs, crows etc.
Both of these loads shoot great, I think that the lighter bullets will shoot well enough but the best ballistic uniformity begins with the 53gr bullets.
