When did FA model numbers change?

Hello, folks. Another post here prompted this question about FA model numbers. Some  time back I was able to get a great deal on a 757, which is now the model 83 in .475 of course. Does anyone know how long the 757 was made before it became the 83? I also remember reading something here about grip frame design changes- does anyone know when this took place, and what it consisted of?

That's what I meant by 'maybe others' in my earlier thread. The 757 is a model I'd never heard of. I believe the 22LR was once the 252, but can't swear to that.
Grip shape did change, but can't say when. My 353 is a premier, and my 454 is field grade. I wanted to see what the 454 looked like dressed up, and tried putting the 353 grips on it. Don't recall what the difference was, but they didn't come close to fitting.
I'll bet some lucky stiff out there has one each of all these X5X models.

I never heard of the grip frame changing? I would also like to know how it has changed.

As far as how long the 757 was made Im not sure but I do have a Freedom arms flyer from 1999 when they were first produced.

The grip frames changed on the model 83 to some extent at the point were they changed from having a nut that holds the mainspring in place , the grip panels are not interchangable and neither are the grip frames . This is according to Freedom arms , I emailed at one point with several questions and the promptly replied but didnt get the awnser to that one.

Really bad pics here, but I think it'll show what 22popnsplat was talking about. My early model 353 showing the nut for the mainspring, and my later model 83 454, where the spring fits in a notch. I rested as best I could, a grip panel from the 353 on the 454. That's a really fuzzy pic. But you can see steel frame extending out beyond the edge of the panel, almost all the way around. So it appears the grip got a little larger as well.
