TF99 vs B21 Question
« on: April 05, 2006, 06:18:29 PM »
Lawdog is deceased so I've edited your subject line so this isn't directed to him. He's good but is not at this time responding from the other side. Graybeard

Does it make more sense to just buy a B21 and send it to http://www.charliedatuna.com to have it tweaked and tuned, instead of buying the Tech Force 99M that has the macaroni spring in it already?

The TF99 is a good bit more expensive than the B21, and then you've got to pay for shipping to you, then to charlie, then back to you.  Can't Charlie just put a decent spring in a B21 while he's got it there?  Skip the TF99 macaroni spring step and expense?  The plain B21 spring is plenty strong from what I hear?

Also, Charlie says on his site that a tune doesn't usually give any increase in power.  But in many cases you've seen an increase in power on the guns you've sent to him right?  Just quesitons.  I know you are da'man on these things.

I've had 3 springers so far, and just learned to do a soft hold on them.

My shame was a Gamo 220 I paid $179 for on sale at Dunhams including a mounted BSA 3x9 scope.  I gave it away cuz I wasn't accurate with it.  I think 90% of that gun's problem was me not knowing how to hold a springer, and how hard it hammers scope mounts.  Now I've only got a Winchester Brazil model 800x that chronys 177 Crossman Premier domes at 690 or so.   Now that I can shoot a springer well I want a sweet 22 cal one!  Thank you sir.  -  Joe

TF99 vs B21 Question
« Reply #1 on: April 07, 2006, 05:25:52 PM »
I just read that in another post, and felt really bad.  I scampered over to delete the thread, but I can't...   So it looks like we'll see if anyone here can answer questions like the dawg could?  If not, maybe when I catch up to him I'll have to wing a pellet off his halo to get his attention and ask him myself.   The question still stands.  Is anyone up to filling LawDog's big shoes and answering it for me?

Good news:  I talked to Charlie, he says The B22 is ten times the gun of the TF99.

Bad News: He says that Christina at http://www.pellettrap.com doesn't sell air guns anymore.  Maybe that's why all their prices are Zero for the shopping cart now.  Xisico has no more retail store.

Good news: John at http://www.xisico.us/index.cfm will drop ship guns to http://www.charliedatuna.com so you don't need to get the gun shipped to you, then off to Charlie for a tuna-up, then back to you.   Buy straight from the factory to Charlie, then to you.  Cuts out a shipping charge!

Does anybody feel like going in on a case (5) of the B22's with me and having them drop-shipped to Charlie for tweaking?

I'd just get a case myself and resell them, but Michigan has draconian laws about needing an FFL for any airgun over .177

I've got an itch for a nice .22 cal that does 850fps and has been worked over by a pro for maybe $220-$250 or so?  -  Joe
