a word to the wise....

there is probably a bit too much truth in this threads title.   just ensure that it doesnt take time away from your families.

knowing what i know now,  i see my marriage was doomed long before i even owned a computer.  but i think me surfing the net could have helped things unravel a tad faster.  now as to whether that is a good thing or a bad thing, i dont know and it is open for debate.  i guess if she was going to leave anyway, sooner is definately better than later.

my point is, dont let the computer take away time from your family.   because they certainly are as addicting to us as they are to kids and video games.

best wishes to all.

My computer usage goes by the seasons:

In the winter I do maintance on equipment and what not.  I get on the computer early in the morning and late at night.  Now that I have found this site I tend to check it while eating my lunch as well.  Once spring is here and it dries out enough that I can get a tractor on a field I will be on here very little.  I also have a bull dozer, backhoe and assorted other  equipment and usually get talked into a building something or doing some earth work for someone as well. This all keeps me and my son's busy threw summer and fall. Then I spend the whole month of November at our camp.  But once Dec., shows up I am pretty well good to do what I want to except for snow removal and maintance. I call this retirement :? The kids are grown and the wife has a computer right beside me and we spend time on them together.  :D

As my health has declined and my ability to go out in the woods has been lost I find I have increased my time at the computer. And we've just now commited to the launch of a couple of new internet ventures that you'll be hearing about soon. We're gonna try branching out and actually kinda making the internet into a real business for us.

In fact Matt bought the two new Domains today and he will be announcing the new venture in the not too distant future.

The bad part is that the G/B is so addictive.
I am on limited time so I usually hit the hangun hunting/gen discussion/Sa forums then on to peek in on handloading.
I do like to bask at the pred/varmint forums though.

Been to alot of places before Graybeard. Thought my stay here would only be a week or so as compared to the format of the others. Why else call myself Glanceblamm :-D

Matt is still searching out the best software for us to use at this time and seeing which Hosting company to use. I'm not anxious to have to pay what we're paying for this server to start the new project but if we have to we will. While it may start slow we're confident it will make money for us longer term.

Tell ya what, I'll go ahead and spill the beans on what the new projects are but I can't give you a firm date on when we'll launch them. We're going to offer free forum hosting and free photo hosting services. The money will be made from the advertisements on the site. We'll have the Google ads and hopefully some other advertisers will join in to be seen there as well. There are several companies in the business of doing this also and they seem to be making money doing it. So I thought maybe it wasn't too late for us to join in and do the same.

We'll also likely have some other than free hosting for sites same as we do now also.
