Influential Movie Lines
« on: April 03, 2006, 02:07:19 AM »
I just saw the movie "The World's Fastest Indian" this last weekend, and I heard the line,
"If you don't get going when you want to get going, by the time you get going, you'll already be gone".

This was the Burt Munro character's comment on aging and persuing a passion.

I liked that.

Anybody have any other good ones?
Just my Awf Hand comments...

"We are moving into the Valley of the Shadow of Death where you will watch the back of the man next to you, as he will watch yours, and you won't care what color he is, or by what name he calls God. We are going into battle against a tough and determined enemy. I can't promise you that I will bring you all home alive. But this I swear... when we go into battle, I will be the first to step on the field and I will be the last to step off. And I will leave no one behind... dead or alive. We will all come home together."

With these words, on the day before he was to lead his men off to war, Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore addressed his soldiers and their families.

MEL GIBSON - WE WERE SOLDIERS
I have seen it hundreds of times and it's still very hard for me to watch this part.

"The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly"
Blondie, played by Clint Eastwood tells Tuco, who just lost in a three way shoot out with  "The Bad" , Lee Van Cleef,  "There are two kinds of people in the world, my friend ....., those with loaded guns, and those who dig: You dig"

That about says it all.

"To shoot accurately in a gun fight you have to take your time and be quick about it." (?)

"It's usually some six-fingered bustard who couldn't hit a cow in the tit with a tin cup that gets you."
"Bat Masterson, huh? He always was full of sheep dip."
"Try it!"
Ron Howard as 'Gilem Rodgers': " Watch out for that man, Mr. Books.      He's mean and he hates you!"
'J.B.Books': Well we'll see if we can't straighten that out."
(John Wayne as J. Bernard Books in "The Shootist"... that movie is almost one long string of GREAT lines!)

"You boys gonna' pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?"
(Clint Eastwood as Josie Wales to Union Troopers)

"Deserves got nothin' to do with it."
(Clint again as Wm. Money to Gene Hackman as 'Little Bill' in "Unforgiven")

"Now you going to surrender or am I going to have to shoot all of ya"

John Wayne - Opening scene Cahill, U.S. Marshall

You kind of have to see it to appreciate it.
