Picked up a neat little Stevens #49 .22LR at the Reno gun show Friday! It's a very well maintained gun, with Lyman 103 windgauge tang sight, and 5B globe front sight. Full coverage factory engraving, and a minty bore! Should make a very shootable/collectable singleshot!

now that is clasy, the barrel look's to be 30 inch bit hard to tell from the picks ibet it will be a tack driver.you must have quite a collection of mint old guns now.good luck to ya.

Thanks guys! Yes Bernie, it is a heavy 30" barrel. Somewhat unusual for a Stevens in .22LR, as the standard was 26". The whole gun appears to have set in someone's closet for most of it's life, but that's the end of her vacation! I plan to shoot her more than she's ever been shot! :lol:

Shot the Stevens today (finally) before it started raining! I started out at 50 yds, and got a 10 shot group under 1". Moved to 100 yds, and shot a 20 shot string all inside 2", with the iron sights. I'm more than pleased since my 55 yr old eyes usually wont focus well enough for nice groups. I like the Lyman 103 tang sight, and Lyman combo front sight.

your right about the lyman globe sights, i have tride a lot of diferent globes but still like the lyman the best when used with the lee shaver inserts.some guys would say put a scope on it but that would detract from what the gun is all about and the way it's shooting and your shooting it who needs a scope.it is one of the pritiest guns i have seen in a long time.you see guns like that here in oz from time totime but they cost an arm and a leg just to rich for me but one can dream lol good luck to you.

Thanks Bernie! Actually they're too rich for me too, but I'm weak, and the guy who sold it to me gave me a very good price, and then took a little down, and the rest a couple weeks later. Only way I could come up with the dough to afford it!
