Does anyone shoot one of these? What have you found to be an accurate ammo for it? Hows the accuracy. Just purchased one and Im thinking of trying the Hornady SST slugs since the shock waves work so well in my 209X50. Any suggestions?

I have one and love it. I've shot at least 5 different brands of sabots and they all shot good. The best, after I found out my new scope was bad, were the Hornady SST's. Man do they put a hole in a deer. They also shoot great out of my ML Encore setup, 250 grain, 100 grain Jim Shockey powder.

I have one and use 12 gauge 2-3/4" Federal Premium Barnes Expander 3/4 oz solid copper hollow point slugs with a MV of 1900 FPS. These are devastating on deer.

I also use solid copper Barnes Expander 300 grain slugs in my 209x50 ML.
Two 777 pellets with a MV of over 1600 FPS. I have yet to get a deer with one of these.

I know that recoil is subjective, but would you say the recoil is more or equal to a Rem 870 12 ga. with the same slugs

I had a Mossberg 500 in 12 and Im gonna tell you my feelings. The Mossberg has way less recoil. Since my initial post, I found that my gun like the Federals w/barnes expander and shoots way better than the Mossberg, but way more recoil.

I am somewhat schocked on the recoil coments. I always thought the 500's and 835's were real kickers. Hard to imagine the Encore would be much worse.

The recoil is stout compared to pump guns. My 12 gauge Encore with Kevlar stock weighs in at 6 pounds. Pretty light. Use 2-3/4" slugs with lighter bullets. That's why I like the Fed Premium 3/4 oz Barnes Expanders. Plenty of punch without the magnum recoil.

SS with Jacaranda laminate stock with 24" stainless barrel. Teamed up with TC 1.5x5 scope. Shooting my own reloads from Sabot Technologies in PA. www.shotgunslugs.com The slug name is called Hammerhead. Slug easily shoots 1" at 50 yds and when I do my part will group inside 2" at 100 yds. It is a combination sabot and shoe slug in which the sabot stays with slug to target where it gets shed. The sabot increases down range velocity due to decreased velocity loss in comparison to other slug/sabots. Do I know for sure? Don't care, it shoots great and is easy to reload. All you need is a scale, variable speed dril, roll crimper (from them), slugs and hulls. You can get the hulls and sabots from them so the rest is pretty easy. Roll crimp the hull with the drill to resistance (you will get the feel) and it is done. Recoil isn't much different from any other slug gun since laminate stock is a bit heavier than synthetics. Definitely be sure to have longer eye relief at least 4" for added clearance. I really like the Encore slug barrel and it is definitely easier to handle in a tree stand than a pump etc. due to length advantage and pistol grip of the stock. Hugh advantage to reload your own slugs since you know where the slug prints every time you pull the trigger. Factory stuff tends to shift based upon which lot you bought. Call Rich Knoster at (814) 839-4549 and tell him Craig sent you. Try these slugs and you will probably not go back to factory slugs.

Are you guys shooting a fully rifled barrel? Or a smooth bore with a rifled choke tube? If fully rifled , who makes/sells one? I hunt SE Ohio and currently use a 1300 Winchester and Rem. copper solid 2-3/4 with very good success, but would like to try the Encore.

Fully rifled , T/C offers a fully rifled slug barrel in 12 & 20.

Cabelas web site offers the fully rifled 24" barrels in blued and stainless ...

I shoot the Lightfield 2 3/4" 1 1/4oz. Hybred EXP - I get 2 inch groups at 100 yards.

Almost forgot Fox Ridge Outfitters offers the barrel to and for around an extra $100 you can have the barrel fitted w/ a muzzle tamer or mag-na-ported...
