Where's Scoondic lake? I looked on the atlas but didn't see it.
I spent a summer around Maine. Came in from Quebec and the road we used was a private, but, open road to get to Baxter State Park. Seemed like all day we were on that bumpy 2-track getting our kidneys jarred and everything in the camper moved around.
Maine is like the U.P. of Michigan, Pure Wilderness with wolves, bear, moose all around...Plenty of black flies, no-see-um's and pretty big danged mosquito's. Buy "muskol" and leave the Off! at home...It doesn't work like Muskol repellent will...
Depending on where you go most areas are out in the Boonies so bring plenty of coke, snacks, food, and ole No. 7 Jack...Or if ya got any of that Mt. Dew that's cooked in the Mt. Laurels then by all means bring that
The corner store is farther than a "country mile" for supplies.
If you're near the coast then head in for a lobster dinner...Some people of Maine look at ya like you're from Mars but it's just how they are. Good people...You get the same from them "Danged Yankees" when they come to visit and are all uppity and such.
We spent a few weeks at the East Coast town of Eastport. Ate seafood till we couldn't move...
Hope that helps...
