Questor Jr., age 13, has been shooting a Buckmark Challenge 22 because of its relative light weight and small size, but now he's shooting the S&W 617 and says he likes it better. He shoots it better. The 617 is pretty heavy as 22 pistols go. It looks like I've got some competition for the old 617 now. I usually use it for plinking clay pigeons at 100 yards, but now it's got a new use.

Find him an older model 17 without the lugged barrel Rudy and it will be more to his liking as it will not be so heavy and shoots just as well.

That's not a bad idea. I think it will make a nice gift for him at some point! Thanks!

He's not complaining about the weight, it's just heavier and he's comfortable with the weight now.

The idea is especially good because I've already got a model 14 in 38 special that should make a dandy introduction to centerfire pistols for him. It doesn't have the underlug and is lighter.
