Back from south Texas hunt
« on: February 19, 2006, 04:12:43 PM »
I got back a couple days ago from a 2 day hog hunt in South Texas. We had a BLAST! We killed 11 hogs :-D  wounded and lost 1 and had a couple misses.  With all the joking and b.s.ing going on when not hunting it made for a perfect all aropund hunt.  Here are a couple pics of a nice boar i shot, along with a pic of a well stocked freezer:

NICE HOG!   Where did you go in Texas?  My buddy and I are leaving for a hog/javelina hunt SW of San Antonio, next Sat.  How was the weather?  Looks like you had a great hunt.

Nice hog.  3 of us were out last weekend W of Hondo, 6 pigs in 2 days.  Incredibly dry.  Most exciting thing next to the pigs were the fleas on them, used head shots to kill them to.   :)

Yep, I knew its been a dry year so I brought a can of flea spray along on the trip. Some of the guys laughed at that ; until we started killing pigs and the fleas started looking for new homes, then the boys were glad I brought it.
Who did you hunt with near Hondo? I hunted that area last year.

partimer,  saw the post about the fleas, and had to laugh.  We went to skinning the hogs we got last weekend, and these trophy FLEAS attacked us! :)   I'm here to tell you that my next trip down, I'm takin a case of spray!  We hunted about 40 miles SW of Uvalde, on a 15,000 acre ranch.  In 2 1/2 days my buddy and I shot 6 hogs, and 2 javelina.  We quit because our coolers were full.  Saw a bobcat, coyotes, and 5 of the biggest whitetail bucks that I have ever seen in my life!  Going back next year and taking our sons.

partimer,  I have them on CD, but have never posted pics.  Could I send you 2-3 to put up?  I know I made 1 mistake, I didn't take my big 35 mm SLR with a 300 telephoto zoom lens.  I could have had some AWESOME wildlife pics.  That is the first thing that gets packed next year.
