Thank you dod3,,but I have to say to all that seek Black Powder; American Pioneer is about the farthest away of any and all FAUX Black Powder available from true Black powder!! The hygroscopic abilities of AP's "orange peel" charcoal alone set's it aside from pyrodex/t7/and goex what-ever they call that stuff......I can't believe you tiltled this thread "Black Powder" and offered links to faux powders :oops:  :twisted:  :twisted:

lotid i dont no about american pioneer powder did not no it was a black powder subtitute, any way some people might like it . i was out hunting today and got 3 pig's with my 54 tryon using wano fff blackpowder, so we are not backward when it comes to huntig with muzzel loaders in australia "sir"  round ball i totaly agree with the 1 in 48 twist statement.

I am to the point of shooting black powder again and to hell with the substitutes. I am on a fixed income and I get really ticked to buy a pound of powder and find out say the next spring the stuff is no good due to a very short shelf life after it has been opened. I have heard this affects AP the most but I have heard the same on 777 though I could not tell that well. The thing is I know that black stays good as long as you take care of it and to be honest you have to clean the gun no matter what you shoot so I really do not see any advantage though at one time I thought I did. Goex Pinicle says it has a indefinite shelf life but I am to the point of not trusing any of them. I found that Pyrodex is really dirty so no great gains there and 777 is ok but the crust ring and frozen breech plugs on some of my guns is a pain and I have traditional guns too that need to be cleaned the traditional way so I plan on going back to black. jim i no what you mean about a fixed incombe here in west oz we get swiss
$90 to 100 a kilogram [2.2lbs] goex $40 a lb  and wano premium  $60 a kilogram. i use the wano fff premium with very good results.

Good stuff that Wano, but here it costs less than Goex, although not much.

slamfire have yiu tryed it i find it likes a good lot of presure when seating your ball or mini that way it burns pritty clean.its not quite as hot as goex but i still get good results and velosity.

I bought 10 lbs from Graf & Sons, where it comes with their private label. I got 6 lbs of FFFg, and 4 of FFg. I still have 3 full pounds of the FFg, and 1 open can of each. My .36 plugs up easily, and I have to wipe often, but the 50 and 56 both just keep takin' new loads without a wipe. The Wano folks say it is the same formula as their "Shutzen" grade. I like it.

dodd3 and slamfire,,bless ya both. but yer each half a world apart... if iether one of you, did just a little research about your powder you'd find a full world of differance in just grain size and marketing.
 Anyway's, fake bp in the US is the same as fake bp in the rest of the world. unless someone else has come up with a new fake bp?

 I like swiss. if I cain't find swiss I'll use t7. that's just what I've found to work the best for me.
