Scope mount for K31
« on: March 29, 2006, 02:25:51 AM »
Got my scope mount from Graf & Sons yesterday. I must say I like this setup much better than the scout mount I had. Will take some Swiss surplus ammo and some reloads out today and sight it in.

Ease of installation with this mount doesn't get any easier.  The brass ejects fine.  I got my mount from Graf & Sons, total to my house was $71.74. www.grafs.com/search?q=STCOSP02

Havn't been able to shoot it much due to weather, here is a pic of one of my better groups so far.  Group was shot from approx. 70 yards.

The scope rings do not come with the mount, and Graf & Sons shows them to be out of stock now.

I just ordered a St. Marie scopemount for my Swiss K31 the one that screws on.  I also ordered a large scope from sportsmans guide it lists for $200 and its on sale for $152  (6x24).  I want to build a swiss sniper rifle well I really want a VATR (very accurate target rifle).

I received the scopemount today and its offset to the left of the receiver and it has three screws to attach it so i have to drill and tap three holes no biggie.  But i have to wait till the scope gets here so i can locate where to put the mount on the receiver so i get my desired eye position on the scope to rifle relation so i'm comfortable with the location of the scope.  I believe the stock needs to be knotched out for this scopemount too just a little square so the location is very important. Iknow already i need higher scope rings because of the larger diameter scope too which i have in stock different height scope rings already. Some scopes i purchased came with them and i didn't need them.

This mount is what i been looking for to put on one of my swiss rifles.  I have heard rumors that all these swiss rifles don't shoot the same while some maybe accurate others aren't.  So it makes a difference which rifle you put the scope on too.

No I do not and I question the use of them as these guns shoot extremely well why take a chance on doing something to the gun that may change that? They really do not need a muzzle break and I wonder about the dampner? As far as I am concerned why mess with success? Jim

My swiss st marie scopemount came today and it was only $37 for the three screw attached scopemount.

I have one question has anyone used the st marie diopter sites yet on there swiss rifle?  I was thinking about tricking out another swiss rifle with those too.

Mounting a scope on a rifle doesn't hurt the rifle. I have drilled and taped holes all my life as a class A machine builder/erector its no biggie.

I ordered a St Marie Muzzle Brake for my swiss rifle build too so its all tricked out with St marie parts.  I found a 14mm-1 die on the internet for $11. I'm interested in the swiss Doipler sights too has anyone tried them yet or used any other doipler sights onany other rifle?  I shot with 22lr using peep sites many years ago.

I just ordered a St Marie muzzle brake.  I heard the swiss k31 has some kick to it and the muzzle brake should take some bite out of it.

I thought about trying one of the barrel dampers, I have read some stories of them actually working but don't know for sure.

I am anxious to get a report from you when you get the muzzle brake installed.

D Man I figure for most guns if its yours do what you want and that includes adding scope mount holes ect  I do, but I will say tell that to any collector and they will want to hang you  as many a extremely collectable gun has been ruined collector wise due to holes drilled and tapped. It all depends on what the gun is.

St. Marie Diopters

D Man,

If you are looking into the St. Marie Diopters, I'd got for the Type P II. This mounts on teh St. Marie Clamp-on mount and gives you eye relief adjustment, plus you can pop off the diopter, nad install a scope in a minute or so.

A nice Setup IMO.
