I am considering a trade from an individual on a .45 a.c.p. HK USP.
I'm not concerned about the deal, it's fair for both of us.
I just don't know much about the HK USP.
This one is not the compact, is in 95% or better shape, has the ten round mag.
Are they shooters? Accurate? Reliable?
He wants one of my .357 revolver and cash and I am heavy in revolvers and only have one .45, a Commander.
I thought another .45 would be a nice present to me!

i had one. it was just fine. then i got a kimber 1911, and i fell in love with it instantly, and i didnt have the heart to keep the hk anymore. i like the controls of the hk, but honestly, i think they are overpriced and the magazines are definately over priced. also, the mags having 10 rounds for a doublestack magazine is very poor. i believe a glock carries 14 45's. i know a glock 20 (10mm) carries 16 fully loaded. now that is utilizing double stack capacity! 10? not so much.

i would say that if you are getting a good deal on it, and you want a new toy go for it. i think they are o.k., but if i were going to buy a doublestack 45 hk would not be my choice.

Well I got it and I'm absolutely in heat!
The controls fit me to a T and the accuracy is simply phenominal.
My best 25 yards group from the bench was 1 1/8th" with 4 of the 5 clustered inside 3/4".
Recoil is very mild.
I feel 10 shots is great for a .45 auto, mags are right at 16 bucks each depending upon the supplier.
Me like 'em bunches!

Have a USP40 and a USP Elite and have never had issues with either. As a new HK owner, head to HKPro.com and be welcomed.

glad it worked out for you. congrats on the new toy. but i am curious, are those mags you are buying hk? because when i was buying mine they were running about 45 a piece. just wondering if that has changed.

Go to gunbroker.com and do a search on HK SUP magazines.
I saw some starting at 54 bucks!
I saw two dealers that had them at 3 for 54 bucks which = 18 bucks a pop.
If you bought a hundred ( how would?) the starting price was 14 bucks a pop.
They are billed as original HK factory mags.
Are they? don't know but the picture shows them marked "HK".
54 bucks each is smokin' crack high!
Even online dealers are getting 42 bucks for new HK mags.
I'm gonna call the outfit that had them at 3 for 54 bucks.
We'll see but the adds look o.k.

The price on HK mages is generally determined by capacity. "Hi-caps" will command the higher prices. Ex: I can buy mags for either of my USPs (9mm, .40 cal) for either $38 for "hi-caps" or as low as $6 for "restricted" capacity 10 rnders. I do know the USP 45 mags are steel and dp cost a bit more.
Regardless, if you aren't willing to spend the $ on mags, you shouldn't have bought the gun. Not bein a wise guy about this. Anywho, occasionally there are deals on mags. Check Cal's or CDNN occasionally as they sometimes offer sale prices.

that was back in the days i was first starting to get serious about handgunning. i didnt realize the cost of the magazines, or have g.b.o. to inquire about it. i am not slamming them, just pointing out that it may be an issue to consider.
back when i got my usp, another thing was trying to find a decent holster for it- good luck. things have changed, now though.

You got any suggestions on a hip holster for the USP?
It need not be anything fancy or expensive, just fit the gun and keep in where it should be unitl needed.
I dont CCW but do carry a handgun around the property for various reasons.
Cost of magazines is an issue.
Not so important as to influence the decision to buy a good gun or not but mags are not worth 55 bucks each.
18 t0 25 bucks is more than enough to spend on top quality mags.

Try getting inexpensive mags for one of the P7 models. I got a screamin' deal at $53 /each. had I known they would sell on ebay for $70 - $100...

As for a holster. While proberly more than you'd like to spend, I use a Mitch Rosen 5JR. Awesome quality. Another, you get what you pay for scenario. Cheap out on a holster for a HK is like parking that F40 ferrari under a 2x4 tarp tent.
