Still whackin' the rats! They seem to like the sledgehammer as much as the coons did. I just mix it with some anti-freeze, q-tips. Just about time to pull the Mound Master back out and nail some spring beaver. Bounties plus increased prices will put a little extra "hitch in my getty-up."

Lets see what the Coon will do,come May. I was told NOT to sell a coon before the May sale. I did'nt.SSSSSSSOOOOO only time will tell.
Also all I have been hear'n since March. Is that the Otter market fell out.On the state Assosation trapper sales. They have been off.Is this a scam that the big fur buyers made up ? AGAIN only the May sale will tell.In the Feburary sale. I adveraged $196.25 for my otters. This sale comming up I have better otter in it.
One that was in the last trap that I pulled ,on the last day of the season. Was cought by the tail in a 280 Belsile. He weightd 29 pounds and streched 8"x 46 1/2" His color was light brown or pale. I dont know where 1 color stops and the other begins. At Feburary sale prices, that otter should bring $300-$350.Again,only time will tell.

Tom
I talked with the local warden and a big number rat trapper at our spring conservation hearing the other day. They were both pleased about the price of rats coming up too. In fact the big number guy (who you most likely know) Also said that rat numbers were up this last fall highest he has seen in years.
Only problem I see when rat prices get good. Every guy with a couple 110s is a rat trapper again. With that comes the thieves.
I my self as you know consider myself pretty much a land trapper. But most seasons I have always caught a few rats here and there along the way. I just enjoy the water and being in and around it to trap just feels right.
I recall when I first started trapping most old timers considered Muskrats "The trappers meal ticket."  It would be nice to see that come back in to being.
