BULLBERRY BUTTSTOCK / FOREND
« on: June 22, 2006, 10:21:21 AM »
FOLKS ,
I have a T/C Contender 20" barrel made by Bullberry in 22K Hornet .It is a sub MOA barrel & a pleasure to shoot & load .I just orderd a SS G2 frame from the TCA buy & I was thinking of having a stock set made by Bullberry. They have a 2 jump upgrade going right now , so if you order a std.grade you get bumped up to high grade at n/c. These are expensive stocks & I was wondering if anyone has bought one from them -how they like it -& if they got the epoxy finish . This would be with a rollover cheekpeice & contrasting pistol grip & forend ( schnabel ).

I've been very happy with my barrels from Fred in both accuacy ,fit & finish-no question they are shooters. I would appreciate any & all input on the stocks.
Thank you in advance for your time,& help .

Well, here is a double edge reply for ya!

I ordered a 223 contender barrel along with a "Utility grade" buttstock and forend from Fred. I ordered the Stock with a longer than standard LOP as I am a tall guy and I got the satin finish as this stock was (and is) used for hunting purposes.

The stock works very well. When I pull it up my eye lines right up with the scope like it's suppose to and I have the longest forarm for stability in varmit shooting.

Now, the accuracy of the barrel is excellent. The barrel is a factory T\C 223 that I bot (on sale) from Midway. The "custom" Fred barrel that was shipped to me didn't lock up. It actually had a horizontal "wiggle" of half-an-inch. I sent it back to Fred, and after two weeks, I sent him my frame. Then after another three weeks, I called. Fred said my frame was junk...then he scratched the hell out of it trying to push it together to make the wiggle go away. Then he and I got in a screaming match.

Fred finally realized his barrel was crap. He refunded my money.

Funny though, my factory barrel locks up tighter than a tick on a dog.

I'm going to order a 243 for an Encore next....ask me if it will be from Fred. Go ahead....ask me.

I got a fancy stock a couple of years ago from Bullberry.  I have nothing but good to say about it.   Beautiful wood, fit and finish.  I got the epoxy finish.  It was not cheap, but I would have no problems ordering another one from them

Soup,
I ordered a stock and forend from Fred a few years ago...just what you are thinking about.  I have nothing but good to say about the fit and finish and quality of wood and work.  Mine is his "bastoge(sp?)" walnut that is a light color.  I got the epoxy finish and every time I am at the range I get great comments on how it looks...but more importantly to me is how it fits me...I pull it up and it immediately puts me right on target with my scope.  I can't comment on his barrels since I have never gotten one from him, but I wouldn't hesitate to order another stock from him!  Hope this helps - Fearless
