Lyman Magdipper?
« on: April 04, 2003, 02:23:35 PM »
I bought a new Lyman Magdipper melting pot couple of years back....and the damn thing "crapped out" on me about 3 days ago; wiring and thermostat control burned completely up! I was wondering if any of you fellows have used this item and have experienced the same problems? I tore into the innards and on the thermostat switch it DID NOT read Made in Mexico but it DID SAY....assembled in Mexico which IMO.....means MADE IN MEXICO!

What say you?

Thanks!

Seems to me....that something that sells for $176.00 should last more than a couple of years; especially if not abused! Lyman needs to find a more efficient thermostat control switch and use heavier wiring on this item! Give me a total case of the "red ass"!

Lyman Mag 20

Sharpsman--My Lyman Mag 20 did the same thing after 3 years.  I repaired it, and it lasted another 2 months, then quit again.  Its been sitting in a corner of my shop for about 6 weeks, and I doubt if I will fix it a second time.  I'm using a turkey cooker and a cast iron pot.  It may run out of gas, but it ain't gonna short out.  Shoot straight, rdnck.
