I just got a chance to try some 2400 powder in my 6 1/2" 50-70 TC contender at the suggestion of Lloyd Smale. I got to 22 grains with the 500 grain bullet. This load is starting to burn a little cleaner, and doesn't appear hot, but velocity is down around 780-800fps. The bigger velocity variation is what troubles me the most, up to 30+fps. I have some loaded up with 23 grains that I will try soon. Thanks.
