Best Bang for your Buck to help your Encore?
« on: September 06, 2009, 06:16:52 AM »
I just purchased an Encore Pro Hunter and was wondering if there were any best bang for the buck type gizmo's to get for the encore.  It can be anything from spring kits to help the trigger out to whatever you think has made it more pleasant to hunt with.  I would like to hear them.

Thanks.

Bob

High on the list would be a trigger job.

I would have to agree, Trigger Job. I just had a buddy polish up all the trigger parts on my Encore Rifle Frame and installed a Custom Trigger Return Spring. Man what a difference that made. My trigger is now super crisp and smooth at 2 pounds.

Next up I would have to say would be bedding the forend in some fashion. Mine is still at the Gunsmiths as I type this, getting Pillar Bedded to a Stratton Custom Hanger Bar.

Any suggestions on a trigger job?  Are there any spring kits that I can get to do it myself?

Thanks,

There is, but the only fella "I know of" that sells them, his name is censored on this site (I have no idea why). My one and only contact with the guy was a not so pleasant experience, so it comes as no surprise. Some other members will probably chime in here directly with other sources. Or you could probably google it and come up with something.

Trapper Spring Kit, order from Natchez Shooting Supplies, about $10-15.

Bed your forend and check your head space... .002-.004" is where you want to be.

An oversized hinge pin really helps tighten up your groups too.  I have a relatively new Pro Hunter and the hinge pin from the factory gets a bit sloppy.  They are fairly cheap and can be found everywhere T/C stuff is too.
