Stupid ruger ring question
« on: August 10, 2006, 03:37:15 PM »
Ive got the ruger low rings and they are two diff. heights.  Does the lower of the two go in front(toward muzzle) or in the rear toward butt stock?
I am not afraid to make an example out of you

I got my first Ruger earlier this year and had the same problem with the rings.  Sadly and to Ruger's shame, their owner's manual says nothing about scope rings being different height.  I put them on wrong at first and thought they had included horribly mismatched rings with the rifle.  If memory serves correctly, the low, or short scope ring mounts on the front of the receiver (closer to the muzzle) and the higher ring mounts towards the rear.

The shorter one goes in the front------always rough things out before you EVER turn a screw on a scope mount---otherwise you can easily damage an expensive scope.
