Strange sound in the house
« on: May 02, 2006, 04:39:13 PM »
I had a strange noise in my rumpus room yesterday and I was afraid that my computer's power supply was about to fail. It was a high pitched monotonous beep that was faint but loud enough to be heard. I shut the computer off and the sound persisted. After searching all over, and not being able to get an aural fix on it, I opened the case of my Pact chronograph. I had left it switched on, and the battery drained. I guess that's the sound the unit makes when it's complaining about it's battery going dead.  Drove me nuts for about ten minutes.

We old school shooters don't mind those sounds one bit . . we can't hear them! That's what comes from shooting in the pre-ear protection days. And be glad you can hear all those insignificant sounds that I wish I could hear.
Many years ago, while sitting in a field hunting chucks a songbird landed on a weed stalk about 15 yds. in front of me. I watched him through my binoculars and realized that he was singing but I didn't hear a sound. That was my eye opener to hearing loss and I was in my 30's. It hasn't gotten any better either.

Yeah Steelbanger, not only that, but I periodically hear high-pitched, monotonous, unnecessary noise and it is all in my head (or ears)!   :)
