Ummm, a single shot paint ball match, novel idea!!!!  A bit of pistol powder or black powder under a .458" muzzleloader sabot and a patched paintball,  but only if they made paintballs in .45 caliber, all I've seen are about .690" or so.

Agreed, that would be a cool one. Though I am not sure the ball would hold up to the velocity..maybe I'm wrong?
But a very cool idea none the less :agree:

Load the paintball on top of a cushion wad with a mild charge of blackpowder or BP substitute and I bet it would work. I wouldn't shoot at another paintballer with it tho, but shooting targets would be fun, specially from a rifled barrel with sights!!

I wouldn't shoot another person with one either   :x  :(
But for "pesk control", shooting cans, and other unimportant stuff, It would be very cool. :)

I bet that you could just  use a magnum rifle primer without powder and it would  do just fine . My dad used to have some wax bullets for his 45 acp, that used a modified case(drilled out to take 209 shot gun primers) and they would flat zing out the wax bullets.

Badnews Bob modified a 22 hornet case to accept a 209 and was shooting 22 airgun pellets out of his handi.  It actually worked fairly well for under 50 yds, was just a tad loud for a makeshift airgun.

I prefer to shoot at paintballs.  Put'em on a golf tee and put the .17hmr to work.

I tried the paint ball trick in mt 12 ga with just a primer, not cute. they ripped apart in the barrel and it looked like amittyville horror. I am going to try again . this time I'll try a cushion (??) and may be covering the ball with vasiline.

Thats what I was affraid of. Even in paintball guns, they occasionally bust inside the barrel. Thats under compressed CO2, just thinking what result a powder/primer would do.
