Lever Questions

1) Is there any difference between a Marlin 39 and 39AS?

2) Why do the newer Winchester 94s have AE after Model 94, while the older just have 94, what does the AE stand for or mean, when did they start putting AE behind them?

To #1 : I don't know.

#2 : AE means angle eject. They make (made) the 94 so it would eject spent brass with a scope mounted over the action/ejection port.
I don't known when this change was made.

I believe the 30-30 AS is the short magazine as apposed to the standard magazine.
The AE or Angle Eject actually made its debut in 1983, but there was a limited special release on '94 XTR 30-30's in late '81 and '82.
