I've been shooting my model 94 with cast bullets and light Unique loads for 6 months now and got used to that lack of recoil. But recently I had some problems with the peep sight shifting and after fixing it I wanted to be sure it would finally stay where I put it.
I knew the light recoil might not be a good test so I loaded up some 170 gr Remington Core Lokts, and I loaded them reasonably hot so it would be a good test.
Well, they tested it all right, and when it caught me by surprise, it darn near knocked me on my butt with the first round. That light rifle can kicked like a mule with a good load in it.
