I don't have the Traditions rifle, but I do have lots of NEF/H&Rs, if the trigger is similar in function and design, I'd try marrying the trigger parts as ML McPherson explains in his book, Accurizing the Factory Rifle, for work on the NEF Handi. Cock the hammer, push forward on the hammer with your thumb with approx 20lbs force and pull the trigger, repeat 20 times. Since it's not an H&R, the trigger parts may not stand the full 20lbs, donno, but perhaps it would be safer to use less force and see how it works. It would be a good idea to cushion the hammer strikes, too.
If that doesn't work, a tear down and honing of the trigger, hammer engagement surfaces and all friction points would be advised. Perklo has a detailed instruction for the Handi for download at his web site,
