I am considering a red dot scope for turkey hunting. In red dot scope ads they show a red glow on the far optic. Maybe this is just marketting...but has anyone had sucess or failures with Red dots for turkeys? BTW...turkeys tend to be smarter than I am so I can't add any more disadvantages.

Hi my friend Mike has one on his sin. shot 10ga and he likes it he has killed 6 turkeys and 3 coyotes in the past 3 yrs turkey hunting with it i bet u would like it if u take time and but the red dot on his head less chanse u would miss i think u would like it good luck and let me know how it works out VM

Shoot, I love my red dot. I picked up a BSA 4 moa dot on sale a few years back and put it on my 870. I was concerned about a low end scope holding up, but thus far I've had no problems with it including hunting in the pouring rain. Best part is it being parallax free. As long as the dot is on the target thats where the shots going, ideal if you're like me and don't always remember to get your head down against the stock.

I to have a BSA reddot on my mossberg 835. I have only had it for 1 year but it has shot 3 birds and worked flawlessly. I would recommend it. I think you will like it. It is fast and simple. Heck I have even gone to the range and shoot some clay pigeons with it on......
