LEE MOULD QUESTION 45-70
« on: May 16, 2006, 08:22:01 AM »
I may get into casting rounds for my 45-70 BC but I have a question on Lee Moulds . I found this mould #.459-500 -RN and was wondering does it drop out of the mould at .459 or ?.
I have a buddie that has all the casting tools but he uses wheel weights,I would like to cast a BHN of 8 to 10 what type of lead is needed for these numbers?

http://www.lasc.us/CastBulletNotes.htm    try here. you would want an alloy of about 1/20 (1part tin to 20 parts lead) for that soft an alloy.

If you're talking about the 459-500-3R, using 20:1 it drops from my mold at .459
