I know the first annual hunt is just around the corner, but would anyone like to start planning the second annual hunt yet?

I'd love to help plan one for Montana next year  :D

If you plan on the latter part of June I'll be there.

This year I'm going june 17 thru the 26th.

I stay away from early june because the weather that time of year is so unpredictable.

I'd like to see it the same time as the Quigly shoot up there so one could kill two birds with one stone so to speak.... Corse we'll have to see how much money it takes me to go up to Ok...next year I might have to sell a kidney or something to pay for the trip up to Montana.... :(

Deadeye47    A few years ago the kids bought me a coke-cola bank it stands over 3ft hi shaped of course like a coke bottle. I use it to fund my habits by dumbing all my change in it and I don't mean spare change I mean I break a bill for dang near every thing. It  weighs right at 100lbs full now that is what is going to pay for my trip. This way it makes it all the more fun 8) Of course the kids grown and gone helps and no grand children.

How about posting some info on p-dog shooting in Montana such as the cost for non-residents?

How is the dog shooting in Mt.

I just did a quick check and Great Falls is about a 1125 mile one way for me.  How many days you planing to shoot? I am thinking strongly avout it.

hellacatcher,

I do the same thing as you do with change, but it seems that it always get taped for something like guns, reloading supplies, and other items.
Happy shooting, may you hit what you aim at.

I would be interested. But realize there is a LOT involved in hosting such an event. Whoever is gonna host it has to locate the PD towns either on public land or get access for all who will be coming just as Wes has for the 2005 event. Are you volunteering to do that? Alone or with help? If with help is anyone else gonna help?

We had some folks volunteer to do that this time in the MT/WY area but I've not heard a single word on the results. Originally I kinda thought there would be two this year a northern and a southern one but the northern one seems to have fizzled.

I can make no firm commitment at this time but would be interested depending on timing.

Graybeard, I'm gonna take responsibility for that ... when the idea was first introduced, I volunteered to try and make a trip happen here in Montana.  When folks decided to go to Oklahoma, I backed out.

I didn't realize there was interest in having both locations in the same year.  I was talking with another board member a few days ago, and he helped me understand that.

Sooooooo, with that in mind, I was hoping I could make ammends and get something going for next year.

Hope this helps clear things up a bit ...

PS,

I am SOOOOOOO wanting to go to Oklahoma, but it just ain't in the cards this year ... have fun and shoot a few for me

Not a problem as far as I'm concerned Jerry. I was kinda looking forward to trying to pull it off to go to both if both took place and IF the timing was right and if I could afford both. As it turns out I likely couldn't have pulled it off anyway.

But it's never too early to begin planning for next year's event or events as the one in OK might become an annual, who knows. I sure don't.

This is the kind of lead time I need.  I'll watch this post to see what dates you come up with.  I have to scheduele my leave nearly a year ahead to make it work out.  So this is perfect timing.  I'd love to meet this motley crew (self included).

Please keep us posted.  I might have to fly and will have to add that to the overall cost.  I live in SoCal.   Looooong ways away.

I didn't make it to this year's shoot, but from the reports I'd be all over one in MT next June.  My inlaws are out there, so I've made several trips and become very fond of MT.

Coming from Maine I might even take the prize for farthest distance traveled.

June PD hunt in Montana
« Reply #19 on: October 17, 2005, 05:36:22 PM »
Guys, I was in MT last june for PDs.  We went the third week of June, and since it was a wet year last year, there were many places we could not get to until wednesday(we got to the Great Falls area Sunday).  Had we been there the week before we likely would have been rained out.

So, I'm strongly suggesting that the earliest the shindig be planned is the third week of June; the last week would be even better but that's crowing th 4th.

Early June is good as usually go out to CA to see dad on Fathers Day and Anniversary is a bit after that.  If I missed that then I would be the target  .  Montanna and OK are fine by me as I am midway between the two and have in-laws in NW OK.
