Just bought a S&W 686-3 in midnight black,  It is a blued stainless gun.  This was a Limited edition gun made in 1989 with custom wood.

Well I am going to shoot paper and eventually hunt whitetail with it.

I need some recomendations for a good hunting bullet.  Weight and configuration.  My intention is to get the same weight in Pb swc for target so recoil will be similar when hunting.

Any recommendations as to powder,  primers or anything else is helpfull.

I am ordering Lee carbide dies and factory crimp die, and want to include some jacketed and lead bullets as well on order.

Thanks for any thoughts,

Fred :-)

I wouldn't use less than a 158gr hollow point. I've got one deer with a .357 and it was not the fastest load I could have used. I got the deer but in a .357 I'd want full power for more shock. I recommend H110 or Win. 296 powder for your loads. You'll get top velocity with either. If I use my .357 for deer again I'll use Reminton 158gr hollow point bullets, H110 powder, and a magnum primer. Check the post on H110 and Hodgdon Lil'gun powder.  Dave

I ordered 158 and 180 Hornady XTPs  This will give me a start.  I am sure I will try others.

Thanks
