BULLET FOR BOAR

I have my opinion but would like to hear a few others. What do you think of a 385 grain WFN-PB at 900 or 1000fps for hogs? I am shooting a 500 Linebaugh and have no hunting experence with it. I have had alot of good luck with a 44 Mag and am using that as a baseline.
Handgun hunting is not about how far we can shoot or how powerful our gun is, it's about how well we can hunt!

I don't think that would be a problem. It sounds like a great load.  :D

That load should work fine.  I have settled on a 400 to 410 gr bullet at about 850fps and I have yet to have a bullet stay in a hog.  It just blows a nice straight hole all the way through them.

The deer I have shot with this load simply crumple.

You don't need a lot of velocity, you are better off using something that you can shoot well and these loads should be very shootable.

My condolences go out to the family of any hog that gets in the way of that bullet :)

Try 10 gr of Unique or 14gr of HS-6.  Both are very consistant in my Linebaugh.  Mild loads, but very effective.

Not a boar, but this may give you an idea how it works:

These will go through 34" of wet newsprint and they could be lubed and fired again:

I think you will find that these work very well on pigs.  Good luck and keep us informed.
