336 cs rear sight canted
« on: May 16, 2006, 03:57:57 PM »
hello;

rifle sighted in as best as my 60 year old eyes will let me.  the rear sight ramp is on the second notch up, but the rear sight is canted, i.e. right side is much higher than the left.  ramp looks to be on center line of barrel.  is there a fix?  hate to take a pair of pliers and/or file to fix things.  got to be a better way.  any suggestions.

no i don't want a scope on the rifle.  have several marlins and this is my shtf rifle, a kiss rifle.  nola is 75 miles down the road and i saw what happen (another topic for later).  thanks for any input.

The rear sight is mounted in a dove tail notch.  I'm thinking that if you could drive it out and get it off the gun then you would have a better chance of straightening it.

I'm not a real fan of a scope on my lever guns but I have one with a williams peep sight that I really like.

Is the gun new? If its fairly new I'd call Marlin. They'll likely send you a sight free.

did it just happen or has it been that way for awhile?
