Can A Slug Gun Scope be used on other rifles ?
« on: April 01, 2003, 08:19:36 AM »
Is there any reason why a scope that was designed for a shotgun cannot be used on say a 30-30 lever gun ?

Nikon has come out with  Prostaff series of scopes and one is a 2-7x33 designed for a shot gun. It has a longer eye relief and a 75yard parylex setting.

Any experiance on this is appreciated.

Thanks

It shouldn't be a problem.  The primary difference between shotgun scopes and, say, air rifle scopes, is that the parallax is set closer than the standard 100 yards.  Why?  Well, shotguns are normally shot at ranges less than 100 yards, like the 75 you mentioned.  Air gun scopes, for example, have the parallax set at only 10 yards.
