Need help with a DW .44
« on: May 13, 2006, 08:10:32 AM »
I traded for a stainless 6" .44 mag, it came with two barrels one is ported and the other not, first shooting session with the non ported barrel showed great grouping but was shooting two inches left with the back sight moved all the way right at 25yrds. any ideas on the fix for this? Its a Monson, MA. gun. TIA Paul

PS, Where could I get a target post front sight, the ramp sight does not give a very sharp sight picture.

Don't know what to do about the hitting to the left issue, but the Patridge front is easy...I got mine direct from DW (they can be contacted via CZusa online,  czusa.com I think).  Mine was for a model 15, and cost about 14 bucks, if I remember correctly.  Easy to swap out, just need the appropriate size hex wrench.  I detest ramp front sights, personally.

Good luck.

Check the front sght. I have a 357 barrel with the sight machined off center. Took a sight blade and filed an offset in it and installed it with a shim.

If the back of the shroud is machined slightly off it will move the barrel out of alignment and throw the POI.  The way you grip the revolver can also effect the POI as the gun recoils.  If the front sight is okay and changing your grip has no effect, then I'd send it back to DW to check the shroud/frame alignment.

Called and left a message for some one fron service dept to call, got a call from a man named Bryan and he said send in barrel shroud and they would true it up and that should correct the problem. Cant beat that kind of service with a stick! I will by more DW revolvers in the near future.
