I've been hearing raves about Winchester white box 45 grain ammo in .223 Rem. for a while but stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere my chances of finding it was very low. I just returned to Maui after a month on Oahu taking care of a family emergency. On the way home from the airport I stopped at the local SPORTS AUTHORITY store and low and behold in the gun department there on the shelf was several boxes of newly arrived 40 round boxes of Winchester 45 hp ammo at $11.99 a box. If I recall correctly this is a pretty good price so I picked up 2 boxes. Maybe I should go back tomorrow and buy some more. My 1 in 12 SS Handi should like this stuff great, all I have to do is make some time for the range.

I just paid $16.00 yesterday for the 50 round value pack at BPS. I would say you got a good deal. It usually runs about $13.00 a box. Great find. Now get to the range and have some fun

I bought some of the same stuff, 45gr. JHP, WWB. On the back of the box it states "something blah, for 1 in 9" rifles."

A 45gr .224 bullet will shoot just fine in a 1 in 14 twist barrel, most likely OK in a 1 in 16 barrel. Larry

That 45 grain HP WWB ammo shoots GREAT in my 1 in 12" twist NEF .223 as it does in most others of the same type. That ammo has become known as the "gold standard" of factory ammo for our little H&R .223's...Best of luck!!!....<><.... :grin:

P.S. - and by the way, thats a great price, it costs me about $13-$14 per 40 round box at the Wal Marts here on the east coast........
