I have two favorites; a '56 vintage Model 70 .270 that my dad gave me, and a '57 vintage Model 70 .300 H&H that my father-in-law just recently gave me.
Oddly enough, both rifles were received as high school graduation presents. The .270 was my dad's deer rifle and has seen some serious field time. The stock has been cut and a recoil pad added, which kills it's collector value, but it's priceless to me.
The .300 H&H is all original and has had a grand total of 4 rounds down the tube. My father-in-law fired 4 rounds at paper and decided the recoil was too much, so it was stored away until I got it. When he gave it to me, the only condition he layed down was that I'd actually use it. As soon as October rolls around again, I plan to keep my end of the bargain.....
